Before I learned to write stories, I was already writing my own.
My name is Naqmeh Hashemi. I’m a filmmaker, writer, and creative entrepreneur, with a life that has taken me through more than one world before bringing me closer to the stories I want to tell.
I built a creative business in Iran, spent years turning ideas into reality, and eventually left the familiar behind to travel. Two and a half years of moving between places, encountering different cultures, and learning to live with uncertainty changed the way I see the world. India became the place where I chose to begin a new chapter, returning to filmmaking through my studies at St. Joseph’s University in Bengaluru.
Today, I bring together the experiences of an entrepreneur, the curiosity of a writer, and the perspective of someone who has learned to see life from different angles. I want to write and direct my own films, creating stories shaped by the people I encounter, the places I carry with me, and the details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
I’m still discovering what those stories will become. And perhaps that is where the most interesting part begins.
